THE # (HASHTAG) THAT STARTED IT ALL…

IMG_5339

The concept behind #LiveLifeBeyondMedyo came from a somewhat likely source – Twitter. The social media app played a major role of the activity that was happening in the crowd of at least one-thousand two hundred (1200) during opening introductions of The Dream Project PH 2014 held in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Province, The Philippines while I was there as one of fifteen (15) Filipino Youth Imagineers invited by Master Organizer and IdeaCube Founder, Prim Paypon.

As it happens, my name became synonymous to the repeatedly “hash-tagged” word, medyo (filipino/spanish for “a bit” or “just a little”. Something that was only put to my attention that evening after dinner accompanied with laughter and banter. That being said, it was a perfect combination to what I’d had already been using as a”hashtag”, which was #lifelivedtothefullest, which wasn’t as original as I thought once I really took every YOLO type instagram into consideration. So, #LifeLifeBeyondMedyo was born: A combination of all the memories created during “2013: The Greatest Year of My Life” and “2014: The Best Start of the Year I’ve Ever Had in My Life”.

This blog will be what I have struggled to find a home for, my true self. It will occasionally mention my company, KinetIQ, as well as my passion project, The BeKinetIQ Foundation, as they a reflection of my principles, my aspirations, and my mission to make a difference in this world. This blog may also occasionally mention Baseball New Zealand, of whom I am employing the same passion, knowledge, and experiences I had from being in MLB for 8 years, as well as my current drive to create a successful start-up.

What this blog will truly display, and I hope to have it act as such, is my online logbook on life. I have had many paper journals that I’ve written on, many notebooks that have made a mark on my back pocket, many electronic devices and recorders that hold precious memories of the journey I’ve been in for since I began backpacking alone almost 15 years ago (yes, it’s been that long), but even more so the stories I will begin to remember from my youth, from taking trans-pacific plane rides alone when I was 2nd grade, to my exchange programs in Japan and Indonesia in junior high school, to the 14 proms and balls I found myself invited to in high school. I hope to use this blog as a platform to display content that could possibly end up in a book one day, and actually challenge the notion that people would want to read it. We’ll see.
